This is a step-by-step buyer’s guide to providing value for your farming system. As this is just an introduction, please get in touch with us at info@origo.ag or call us on 1 800 577 399 to discuss your requirements and get in touch with our Local Industry Partner.

There are two connectivity options: 1) The Origo.ag M1 option, Utilising a Telco IoT network, which includes a SIM data plan for each device: or 2) The Origo.ag DM Option, your own private Origo.ag Digimesh, meshing network. The Origo.ag DM requires an Origo XGW Gateway at a central point with Internet access, for instance, at your farm office. We are also launching a Satellite connectivity option.

All connectivity options can be mixed and matched depending on your requirements.

Origo system work on low voltage, e.g. controlling solenoids and relays. All high-voltage circuits (DC or AC) require a certified electrician.

Identify your objectives

  • Identify your critical assets, where you frequently visit, e.g. to switch on and off or change the direction of valves manually.

  • What is to be controlled? For example, pumps, valves, mills, irrigation, fans, temperature and humidity in rooms, desalination plants, and water spray for cooling.

  • What is driving the current system? Solar or mains powered, diesel, generator electricity, manual

  • Current system? For example, manual valve, DC switch, AC Switch, and manual start.

  • Required control or automation? For example, remote switching, switching on schedule (timer), and switching on condition (temperature).

Prioritise requirements for control and automation

  • Prioritise your objectives; generally, the assets that are crucial for your farming operation, require heavy workloads or are furthest away from central points of operation involve more cost than those in the farm yard.
